As the planet's health continues to decline the longer humans roam the earth and destroy it, leading scientists are scrambling to figure out what we can do to reverse the clock. Can we take back time though; how big of a difference would a few small changes make anyways?
A big factor in the planet's decline is pollution. Think about it, all of the gases factories omit, the fumes cars let off, creating of oil causing toxicity in the air, etc. We as humans are constantly poisoning the Earth by continuing to create an uninhabitable environment for humanity to continue living in. We constantly give the planet exactly what it doesn’t need and we are consciously doing it. Some individuals are much more conscious of it, but for the most part, we pretend it's all fine and dandy.
But let me ask you something, have you ever thought from the perspective of your body being in the same position as the planet? With so many readily available fast-food chains on our way when we are in a rush and never having enough time, it becomes easy. As Americans, we are obsessed with pressing the easy button because we don’t like putting in the work.
So what can we do to change the image and get the results we crave? Let’s get one thing straight, realize that it’s all about time, balance, and ambition. Do you really not have time to cook or did you not prepare to cook ahead of time? Did you decide the day was already ruined because of your prior food choices? Do you really want to put in the work to change your body and mindset? Noticed how I asked the same questions, but instead put them into reality?
A big contributor to how we feel and how we look is the food we put into our bodies; food is fuel. If we fill our bodies with nutritious foods that will energize, sustain, and satisfy us, we will feel better and look closer to our “goal” of what we want. Say we do mess up, that does not mean that the day is ruined. I like to use the 80/20 rule to help counteract that negative mindset. As long as 80% of the time we are consciously intuitively eating, we leave room for the 20% where life is allowed to happen.
Next, restrictions are where long lasting habits go to die. It is our nature to flee to what is familiar when we are uncomfortable. One of the most common times we as humans are uncomfortable is when we are creating a new habit. They are hard to stay true to at the beginning especially when the cravings come into play. This is why it is so crucial to find nutritious foods that will satisfy us yet still be good four our bodies.
Lastly, stop the stigma around eating the smallest of amounts to lose weight! When you eat small amounts of foods your body becomes malnourished and stores all of the food it does get causing you to gain weight. The correct way to lose weight is through a calorie deficit because your body knows not to store too much because it is getting the same consistent amount each day.
Our bodies are the only ones we get, it is our job to treat it with care and create sustainable habits to make it last as long as possible in the healthiest state it can.
